How can I get a whiter smile?

There are several different ways to achieve a healthier, whiter smile. The more conservative ways are with in-office or take-home tooth whitening or bleaching methods. If tooth whitening is not an option, you may be a better candidate for cosmetic bonding, porcelain veneers, or porcelain crowns.

What is the difference between in-office tooth whitening and take-home tooth whitening?

The biggest difference in the two methods is the time it takes to achieve results. In-office tooth whitening is done in one visit, which typically takes about an hour. Take-home tooth whitening is done by taking molds of your teeth and making custom-designed trays for you to wear at home. You can choose to either do the whitening overnight or twice a day. It usually takes about 1 ½ to 2 weeks to achieve maximum results with the take-home tooth whitening method.

What is a porcelain veneer?

A porcelain veneer is a thin shell of porcelain that is bonded over your tooth. Veneers can be used to whiten teeth, correct misshaped or misaligned teeth, close spaces, or repair worn down or broken teeth. In many cases, porcelain veneers can be used to straighten teeth without the use of orthodontics.

How much does cosmetic dentistry cost?

The cost all depends on the cosmetic procedure that you do. You don't have to go to Los Angeles, New York or Buckhead to achieve a beautiful smile. Less expensive and more conservative cosmetic procedures include tooth whitening (bleaching), while more involved procedures would be porcelain restorations such as porcelain veneers or porcelain crowns. Many of our patients are everyday, working people, just like us. Because we understand this, we offer affordable payment plans ( www.capitalonehealthcarefinance.com ) to help you achieve the smile you deserve.

Do you accept my insurance?

Yes. You can use your insurance here, provided that they do not require you choose your dentist based on their list of contracted offices. We will make every effort to estimate what your insurance will pay prior to each visit; however, because we are not contracted with any insurance carriers, it may not always be exact. Dental insurance is not designed to pay 100% of all services, so you will be responsible for payment of any portion not covered by insurance on the date of service. We will make sure that you are aware of what your cost for each procedure is before we begin.

Does insurance cover cosmetic procedures?

Typically, insurance will not cover anything that is done purely for cosmetic reasons. If a cosmetic procedure is done for health reasons, we can help you in submitting the insurance claim along with any documentation to help you in maximizing any benefits.

What can I do to replace these old, dark fillings?

Not only are mercury (silver) fillings unpleasant to look at, they can leak and allow decay to enter the tooth underneath the filling, as well as, lead to cracks in the tooth. Silver fillings show up as bright white on x-rays, so we cannot see the new decay underneath the filling. You now have options to replace these old fillings with bonded, tooth-colored restorations. Composite fillings and porcelain inlays and onlays are more conservative on tooth structure than metal fillings.
